Taking Care of Your Copper Awning
Copper Awning can be a nice upgrade to your houses
exterior
A copper awning is a very attractive addition to one’s
home or business. A copper awning provides a host of benefits that standard awning does not provide. However,
copper, is a metal that can suffer from the pain of corrosion.
This awning requires a bit more maintenance than standard awning. When exposed to the elements,
copper awning will start to take on a decidedly un-shiny greenish color. This greenish color is the direct result
of oxidization and is not where near as coveted as the natural copper color. There are a few ways to fix your
awning when it starts to suffer from the oxidization process.
“Copper Awning will need care and maintenance, but this hard work pays
off, its one of the most impressive kinds of awnings.”
There are a few ways of wiping the greenish color out of the copper awning. One way is to mix
vinegar with water and use that as homemade industrial cleaner. Those not interested in making a home made awning
fixing concoction may wish to purchase a bottle of ready-made copper awning cleaning solution at their local
hardware store. There is also a method of sanding the awning, but this may not be recommended for the obvious
reasons. You would not want to scratch your awning, would you?
Probably the best way to solve the problem is to take preventive measures to make sure the
problem never occurs in the first place. Make sure your awning is always properly cleaned. Perform this routine
cleaning regularly; regularly being defined as at least once a week. If once a week proves to be too difficult,
then be sure to clean the awning at least once every two weeks and never let more than three weeks go by without
providing the awning with some attention. It is also advised to wax the awning as this will further prevent any
erosion to the copper.
